Appleby's camp blends academic enrichment with leadership development, recreation and Canadian cultural experiences. Learning alongside Canadian and international peers is central to the experience.
Weekly options span business, communication, leadership, mathematics and science. Boarding activities and supervised outings extend the learning beyond the classroom.
It suits students who want subject exploration and a social campus experience rather than a summer focused entirely on one academic discipline.
Summer Enrichment Camp is Appleby College's residential program combining academic enrichment, leadership development and recreation. Students study alongside Canadian and international peers on the school's lakefront campus in Oakville. Weekly offerings cover Business, Communication, Leadership, and Math & Science.
The experience extends beyond classes through boarding-house life, evening activities and supervised regional excursions. Junior programming includes scheduled outdoor time, while Senior programming places more emphasis on classroom collaboration and includes a university visit. Examples of study options include Biomedical Science, Debating and Public Speaking, Personal Finance and Essay Writing.
The mix of business, communication, leadership and science supports exploration before committing to one subject.
Distinct Junior and Senior approaches recognize different learning needs rather than offering identical classroom experiences.
Roommate pairing across language groups makes cross-cultural interaction part of everyday boarding life.
Published supervision, health support and excursion arrangements give families concrete details for planning.
Students who enjoy trying different academic subjects and want a structured boarding experience with international friendships and cultural outings.
You want beginner English instruction, a single-subject intensive course or unrestricted phone access throughout the day.
The camp can be worthwhile when a family values academic exploration, supervised boarding and cultural experiences together. Shared rooms, group learning and community activities give students repeated opportunities to practice communication and independence.
The substantial boarding fee deserves comparison with how much your child wants the whole experience. Excursions and recreation occupy part of the schedule, so a student seeking concentrated study in one discipline may prefer a specialist course. Treat the attendance-based certificate as recognition of participation rather than a promise of an admissions advantage.
