This is an English-language art and design program focused on visual communication rather than specialist technical training.
Students analyze visual work, respond to creative briefs, collaborate on projects and present their ideas through the Time to Shine experience.
It best suits creative students who want to strengthen both visual thinking and confidence discussing their work in English.
The Faculty of Art & Design is an English-language summer program delivered by Summer Boarding Courses at Dukes Cambridge. It explores how color, composition, imagery and design choices communicate ideas.
Students learn through discussion, visual analysis, creative activities and collaborative project work. The practical experience includes fieldwork, industry-focused sessions and a final presentation, with the emphasis placed on developing and communicating ideas rather than specialist studio training.
It connects art and design study with purposeful English-language development.
The three-part curriculum progresses from visual language to communication and presentation.
Small classes support discussion, creative experimentation and feedback.
Fieldwork, industry sessions and guest speakers connect creative ideas with real settings and careers.
Students leave with a certificate, recommendation and small portfolio of work.
Creative teenagers who want to explore visual communication while becoming more confident discussing and presenting ideas in English.
You need intensive technical studio training or a formal admissions-portfolio course.
It can be worthwhile for a student who values a structured creative experience, small-group learning and an international campus environment. The combination of English, project work, fieldwork and presentation practice gives the program broader value than classroom study alone.
The limitation is that the course prioritizes communication and creative exploration over advanced technical instruction or formal portfolio preparation. Families should also compare the residential and day prices carefully, particularly if the main goal is subject depth rather than the full summer-school experience.
