About Summer Boarding Courses (SBC)
Summer Boarding Courses (SBC) is a UK multi-campus summer school provider and part of Dukes Education. It offers residential summer schools and day camps, with Explorer, Adventure and College Pathways spanning ages 6–17 and subjects including English, business, medicine, law, STEM and the arts.
Teaching style
SBC describes a student-centred, interactive approach combining lectures and seminars with practical workshops, fieldwork, collaborative projects and presentations. Teaching emphasizes subject knowledge alongside communication, critical thinking, teamwork and public speaking.
Reputation & Succeed take
SBC states that EL Gazette ranked it the UK’s number-one multi-campus summer school from 2018 to 2025 using British Council inspection results. It also reports the maximum 15/15 British Council areas of strength and displays a 4.4/5 Trustpilot rating.
Our take
SBC combines a broad, age-banded multi-campus pathway with strong published inspection credentials, including 15/15 British Council areas of strength. Families should select carefully by age, subject, English level and campus, and verify the precise relationship between SBC and each host institution.
Compared with a single-site summer school, SBC offers multiple campuses and a progression from Explorer to Adventure and College Pathways. Its stated differentiators include a multinational community, prominent UK host campuses and maximum-strength British Council inspection results.
Who this provider suits
Who should choose them
SBC is suited to families seeking structured UK summer learning for ages 6–17 in an international community, with residential or day options and pathways ranging from first experiences away from home to English development and pre-university academic preparation.
Who it may not suit
Families who specifically require a program formally affiliated with the University of Cambridge should avoid selecting the Dukes Cambridge option, because SBC explicitly states that no such affiliation exists.
