SBC combines English-language development with politics, economics and international relations, using global affairs as the context for communication and critical thinking.
Students discuss case studies, analyze sources, compare perspectives and collaborate on a global-affairs project before presenting their conclusions.
It suits students curious about government, markets and international issues who want to speak and present more confidently in English.
The Faculty of Global Leadership is an SBC summer program at Dukes Cambridge that develops English through politics, economics and international relations. Its modules examine government and society, markets and policy, and international responses to shared challenges.
Learning uses discussion, accessible case studies, source analysis and collaborative decision-making. Students also encounter fieldwork, industry-focused sessions and guest speakers, while a continuing team project leads to a Time to Shine presentation.
The curriculum connects English development to clearly defined modules in politics, economics and international relations.
A continuing global-affairs project gives students a concrete reason to analyze evidence, negotiate viewpoints and communicate recommendations.
Small seminars are capped at 15 students, alongside 20 published academic hours per week.
Industry-focused sessions, guest speakers and fieldwork extend learning beyond classroom discussion.
Students leave with a certificate, personalized recommendation letter and student report.
Students who are curious about politics, economics and world affairs and want to build confidence discussing evidence and presenting ideas in English.
You want a university-affiliated course, a narrowly specialized subject program or a purely academic schedule without activities and excursions.
It can be worthwhile for a student who wants a structured mix of global-affairs study, English development and residential summer-school life. The collaborative project, small classes and documented outcomes give the experience more substance than a general activity camp.
The limitation is value for money: this is a high-cost enrichment program, not a Cambridge University credential. Families should compare the teaching fit, residential needs and included activities with less expensive leadership or politics options before booking.
