Students develop acting, voice, movement and stagecraft through practical masterclasses and workshops led by theatre professionals.
The central project is a collaboratively devised original theatre piece, performed for the wider summer-school community during Creative Night.
It suits both beginners and experienced performers who want structured creative training within a broader academic and residential summer-school experience.
The Theatre Summer Programme is an ISSOS elective combining practical performing-arts training with a wider residential summer-school experience. Students choose Theatre alongside one academic class and learn within an international campus community.
Working theatre professionals lead masterclasses and workshops in acting, voice, movement, improvisation and stagecraft. Students then apply those skills collaboratively by devising and presenting an original production at Creative Night.
The programme gives beginners and experienced performers a shared, supportive route into practical theatre-making.
Students work towards a concrete creative outcome rather than completing disconnected workshop exercises.
Teaching covers performance and backstage areas, including direction, production, sound and lighting.
Theatre is balanced with academic study, activities and cultural trips for a broader summer experience.
The international rooming and nationality policy encourages students to work beyond familiar social groups.
Students who want practical theatre training, collaborative creation and the confidence-building challenge of a live performance.
You want a theatre-only conservatoire timetable, prefer non-residential study or cannot commit to the wider academic and activity programme.
The programme can be worthwhile for students who value hands-on performance practice, structured collaboration and an international residential experience. The final production gives the workshops a meaningful goal and creates a tangible outcome to reflect on later.
The main limitation is that Theatre forms one elective within a much broader summer programme, so it is less specialised than intensive conservatoire training. Families should also judge whether the all-inclusive residential package offers enough value for their priorities.
