ISSOS
About ISSOS
Founded in 2005, ISSOS provides all-inclusive, three-week residential summer schools for students aged 13–18. Its model combines one academic subject with one elective, evening activities and cultural trips at university-campus locations in St Andrews, Cambridge and Yale; Yale is paused for 2026.
Teaching style
Students pair a weekday-morning academic class with an afternoon elective. Teaching emphasizes practical, interactive learning, transferable skills and individual attention, with classes led by qualified teachers, professional coaches and working subject specialists.
Reputation & Succeed take
ISSOS describes itself as one of the UK's longest-running summer schools. Its provider-owned awards page reports recognition including two British Youth Travel Awards finalist appearances, a Scottish Enterprise Award and a 2019 Private Education & Development Award.
Our take
ISSOS is a strong option for teenagers seeking a structured, all-inclusive residential experience that gives academics, creative or sporting enrichment, international community and organised activities comparable weight.
ISSOS differentiates its format through three-week residential sessions capped at 150 students, a maximum 10% representation from any one nationality, and a required combination of academics, electives, activities and cultural trips.
Who this provider suits
Who should choose them
Students aged 13–18 who want a three-week residential program combining academic development, creative or sporting electives, organised activities and friendships within a deliberately international cohort should consider ISSOS.
Who it may not suit
ISSOS may not suit students who do not want a three-week residential stay or who prefer a purely academic timetable without an elective, group activities and cultural trips.
