Discover London links English lessons with themed educational visits, so students practice language connected to what they see and experience.
Classroom work develops reading, writing, listening and speaking, with presentations bringing the week's learning together.
The balance of organized activities and free time suits learners who want to combine language practice with sightseeing.
Discover London is a Kings Young Learners summer English course that combines classroom learning with sightseeing. Its academic focus is the four core language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Lessons connect everyday communication with themes explored during educational visits.
Students live in London South Bank University residences and study through a mix of language work, projects and presentations. Each weekly theme moves from classroom preparation to a related visit, followed by a presentation about what students learned. Organized excursions and optional social activities complement time to explore the city.
The classroom-to-visit-to-presentation sequence gives students a concrete reason to use new vocabulary.
Teaching covers all four core English skills alongside practical everyday communication.
A university residence provides a central base for both organized visits and independent exploration.
Included excursions and an end-of-course certificate give the experience a clear structure.
Learners who want practical English development alongside sightseeing and are comfortable with a mix of organized activities and free time.
Your main goal is subject-specialist academic study or you prefer a fully scheduled experience with little independent exploration.
Discover London can be worthwhile when your priority is practicing English beyond the classroom. Themed visits and presentations connect language learning to memorable experiences, while the residential package simplifies accommodation and meal planning.
Its value depends on how actively you participate in lessons and use your free time. Budget separately for London transport and optional outings, and consider whether you want this balance of study and sightseeing rather than a more intensive academic focus.
