This is a residential academic programme where students choose a Major and a Minor and learn through small-group classes, workshops, debates, projects and visits around Oxford.
It combines morning academic study, Minor classes on three afternoons each week and a broad programme of optional cultural, sporting and social activities.
It suits curious students who want to explore a subject beyond school while experiencing supervised residential life and greater day-to-day independence.
The Oxford Experience is a residential academic summer programme run by Oxbridge Academic Programs by WorldStrides. Students select a Major and a Minor, studying through discussion, workshops, experiments, projects and visits that use Oxford as an active teaching environment.
The programme is based at Keble College, close to Oxford’s university parks, museums and city centre. Outside class, students can join organised sports, performances, museum visits, tours and full-day excursions while living in a supervised college residence.
Students can test a specialist subject through university-style experiential teaching rather than conventional exam preparation.
The Major and Minor structure allows focused study alongside exploration of a second academic interest.
Oxford’s museums, courts, laboratories and cultural sites become part of the learning environment.
Single ensuite rooms, resident staff and structured check-ins provide a well-defined residential setup.
Every course culminates in a final project, performance, presentation or portfolio, followed by a detailed grade report.
Academically curious Grades 8-9 students who want intensive subject exploration, residential independence and a varied cultural programme.
You want a non-residential course, formal academic credit or a programme centred on tests and examinations.
The programme can be valuable for students who will use the Major and Minor choices to explore genuine academic interests. Its strongest features are experiential teaching, extensive use of Oxford as a classroom and a structured residential community.
The fee is substantial, and attending does not itself confer university credit or guarantee an admissions advantage. The value depends on course fit, readiness for nearly four weeks away from home and whether the family will make full use of the included teaching, activities and support.
