Save programOxford Scholastica combines academic mentoring with a collaborative economics research project. The emphasis is on investigating a focused question and producing a coherent argument.
You read existing research, divide writing responsibilities, exchange feedback and present a co-authored paper prepared for journal submission.
It suits students who enjoy discussion and academic writing, particularly those testing their interest in economics or finance before university.
The Business, Economics & Finance Online Research Internship is Oxford Scholastica's mentored academic research program. Students explore economic and financial questions through live discussion, independent reading and collaborative writing. Topic examples include global economic governance, fast fashion, behavioral economics and corporate greenwashing.
You work with an academic mentor and a small research team to develop a question, organize evidence and co-author a paper. The final session includes presenting findings and preparing the manuscript for submission to the OxJournal editorial board. Oxford Scholastica runs independently and has no formal university affiliation.
The sequence takes students from background reading to a research question, draft feedback and a final presentation.
Research groups of three or four give students a defined writing contribution within a shared paper.
The featured economics mentor combines Cambridge and LSE academic training with venture-capital and wealth-management experience.
A paper prepared for journal submission creates a concrete piece of work students can discuss and reflect on.
Students who want to test economics or finance through reading, argument and teamwork, and who welcome feedback on their writing.
You want paid employment experience or a fully individual project, or cannot protect time for independent work between live sessions.
It can be worthwhile if you want guided practice in academic research and will contribute actively to the shared paper. The strongest value comes from learning to evaluate sources, explain an argument and improve a draft through feedback.
The project is co-authored, so it provides limited scope for a wholly independent investigation. Publication requires editorial submission, and the provider is independently run. Judge the experience by the work and understanding you gain, alongside your family's budget, rather than expecting an admissions advantage from the certificate alone.
