Save programOxford Scholastica’s medicine research internship combines academic mentorship with a collaborative paper on a focused healthcare topic.
You read existing research, develop a question, write with a small team, receive feedback, and present your findings before journal submission.
It suits students who want to test their interest in medical scholarship and practice scientific writing.
The Medicine Online Research Internship is Oxford Scholastica Academy’s mentored introduction to collaborative medical research. Students investigate a focused topic such as heart disease, precision medicine, medical ethics, or technology in diagnosis, using existing research and contemporary case studies.
Live Zoom meetings guide students from choosing a research question to assembling a co-authored paper. Interns work in smaller writing teams, exchange feedback, and present their findings before preparing the paper for the OxJournal editorial board.
The four-session sequence makes the progression from background reading to a finished research paper clear.
Groups of three or four give students defined research and writing responsibilities.
Mentor feedback and peer review provide repeated opportunities to improve an argument.
Topics connect medical science with ethical questions and emerging technologies.
A final presentation adds practice in explaining findings beyond the written paper.
Students who enjoy reading medical research and want guidance turning their ideas into a collaborative paper.
You primarily want patient-facing experience or prefer learning without group writing and independent research.
This internship can be worthwhile if your goal is to understand medical research and improve your academic writing. The combination of a defined question, mentor feedback, and a shared paper gives you concrete work to reflect on in future applications.
The value depends on how actively you research, write, and respond to feedback. It is a research experience with a collaborative output, so students seeking clinical exposure should compare other options, and publication should remain a possibility rather than the sole reason to enroll.
