Chemistry in Action turns everyday chemistry into practical experiments, from colorful reactions and slime to baking soda rockets and ice cream.
It suits curious children who enjoy making things and discovering why materials behave differently, with peer interaction woven into the camp experience.
Chemistry in Action is Ridley College's practical chemistry camp within its senior summer day-camp offerings. Campers explore reactions, polymers and food science through activities such as making slime, building baking soda rockets and preparing ice cream in a bag.
The emphasis is on discovering how chemistry connects to ordinary foods and materials through playful, lab-based activities. The wider senior-camp experience also encourages responsibility, initiative, communication and teamwork with peers.
Familiar materials and food experiments give children concrete ways to connect chemistry with everyday life.
Making rockets, slime and polymers creates several different routes into the subject.
Groups of no more than 20 campers support a more personal camp experience.
Included lunch, nursing support and trained instructors address practical family priorities.
Curious children who enjoy practical experiments, making things and connecting science to everyday experiences.
Your main goal is sustained exam preparation or an extended research project; the camp's focus is playful chemistry exploration.
This camp is worth considering when the goal is to make chemistry engaging through practical discovery. Its mix of reactions, materials and food experiments gives children several approachable ways to explore the subject.
The value depends on whether your child enjoys group activities and learning by doing. A short camp offers an introduction, so families seeking sustained subject depth should compare it with a longer course.
