This academic mathematics course combines algebra, geometry and trigonometry with investigation and technology. Students practice explaining their reasoning through multi-step problems.
Small groups and qualified instructors make it a focused option for students who want structured subject progression rather than a broad enrichment camp.
Principles of Mathematics, Grade 10, Academic (MPM2D) is an academic course within Ridley College’s Summer Academy. It develops algebraic problem solving through quadratic relations, linear systems, analytic geometry and trigonometry.
Students investigate mathematical relationships, use technology and practice abstract reasoning in an in-class setting. Teaching takes place in small groups, with an emphasis on communicating solutions to multi-step problems.
The curriculum connects algebra, geometry and trigonometry instead of treating problem solving as isolated exercises.
Groups of no more than 15 students offer a compact classroom setting for mathematical discussion.
Explaining multi-step solutions is an explicit learning goal, giving reasoning equal attention to calculation.
On-campus nursing staff and safety-trained instructors provide practical reassurance for families.
Students who want structured academic mathematics study and are willing to explain how they reach their answers.
You want occasional tutoring or a flexible study schedule; the course follows a full weekday timetable.
The course is worth considering when your priority is sustained progress in academic mathematics. Its combination of subject breadth, small groups and mathematical communication gives it a clear purpose beyond general summer enrichment.
The main tradeoff is the concentrated weekday commitment, which leaves less room for other summer plans. Compare the day and boarding fees against your learning goals, and treat the course as academic preparation rather than a guarantee of higher grades.
