St Clare's connects business theory with creating and pitching an original business plan. Business English practice runs alongside budgeting, marketing, and product development.
Students learn through classroom activities, international teamwork, guest speakers, and study visits. Teacher and peer feedback help them refine their pitch.
The strongest fit is a student who wants to test an interest in entrepreneurship through practical decisions and presentations.
The Business & Entrepreneurship Summer Course is St Clare's practical introduction to developing and presenting a business idea. It combines business studies and entrepreneurship with Business English, covering product development, budgeting, and marketing strategy. Students work toward a business plan and pitch in an international learning environment.
Teaching takes place on St Clare's Oxford campuses, with experienced teachers providing guidance and personal feedback. Guest speakers and study visits bring professional business decisions into the course, while a dedicated careers session explores future study and work. Recent visits have included the Mini BMW Plant and market research in Oxford.
The business-plan pitch gives students a concrete reason to connect budgeting, marketing, and product decisions.
A maximum class size of 12 supports personal feedback and guided presentation practice.
Guest speakers and enterprise visits help students test classroom ideas against professional experience.
Business English practice makes communication part of the business learning, rather than a separate exercise.
Dedicated careers guidance connects the project experience with possible higher education and work pathways.
Students who want to develop a business idea, collaborate internationally, and build confidence presenting in English.
You prefer a mainly theoretical economics course or want to avoid teamwork and presenting your ideas.
This course is worth considering when your goal is to try entrepreneurship through a tangible project and improve how you communicate business ideas. Small classes, pitch feedback, and careers guidance create several opportunities to turn participation into useful reflection.
Its value depends on how much you want that combination of business practice, English development, and campus experience. A short summer course offers an introduction rather than sustained business experience, so weigh the package price against the depth and format you need.
