Food for All Futures explores leadership through the practical challenge of food security, using UN SDG2 Zero Hunger as its central framework.
Students combine research, case studies, cross-cultural discussions, and presentations to examine food policy, agriculture, supply chains, and community hunger solutions.
It suits students who want to connect sustainability with social policy and practice turning complex global problems into informed proposals.
Global Leadership Course: Food for All Futures is a University of Toronto, New College Pre-U course focused on equitable food access. Students explore UN SDG2 Zero Hunger through food policy analysis, agricultural practices, supply chain resilience, and community-based responses to hunger.
The academic experience combines research, case studies, class discussions, cross-cultural collaboration, and presentations. Design thinking helps students explore possible solutions, while the wider residential program pairs the morning course with an afternoon subject and supervised campus activities.
A specific focus on Zero Hunger gives leadership study a concrete problem to investigate.
Food policy, agriculture, and supply chains connect environmental questions with social decisions.
Research and presentations give students practical ways to explain and defend their ideas.
Cross-cultural collaboration encourages students to compare how hunger challenges differ between communities.
Residential counselors and supervised activities provide a structured introduction to campus life.
Students interested in food security, sustainability, and social policy who enjoy research, discussion, and collaborative problem-solving.
You want a day-only experience or primarily technical agricultural training; this course emphasizes leadership and food-system analysis within a required residential program.
This is a strong fit when a student wants to explore the relationship between food systems, public policy, and leadership. Research, collaboration, and presentations offer useful practice in explaining complex problems, while residential life adds experience of a university community.
The value depends on wanting the whole package, including a second course and residence. Families should weigh that commitment against narrower alternatives, and students should expect an introduction to food-system leadership rather than professional agricultural training.
