Save programWake Forest's institute combines technical AI topics with questions about ethics, society, regulation and geopolitics.
Students learn through workshops, collaborative projects, simulations, debates, expert talks and visits intended to show AI in practical settings.
It suits curious students who want a broad, intensive introduction rather than a narrowly focused coding course.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Institute is a Wake Forest University Summer Immersion Program focused on how intelligent technologies work and affect society. Its academic scope includes machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, ethics, automation, governance and geopolitics.
The experience mixes workshops with collaborative AI projects, simulations, debates and talks from experts across academia, industry and policy. Students also experience university campus life and may visit technology hubs or innovation centers.
The curriculum connects technical foundations with ethical, economic, legal and geopolitical questions.
Hands-on work extends beyond lectures through projects, simulations and structured debates.
Guest speakers bring perspectives from academia, industry, government and policy.
The residential format combines intensive study with supervised university campus life.
Participants receive an official Wake Forest University Certificate of Completion.
Students curious about both AI technology and its wider ethical, social and policy implications, especially those who enjoy projects and discussion.
You want a credit-bearing course, a commuter option or a narrowly technical coding boot camp.
This is a strong exploratory option for students who want to test their interest in AI through several lenses rather than study programming alone. The combination of projects, ethics debates, expert speakers and campus living creates a varied introduction.
The main limitation is breadth: one intensive week cannot provide deep mastery of machine learning or software development. It is most valuable as structured exploration that helps a student identify which part of AI to pursue next.
