What Succeed checks
We review public online program details such as eligibility, age range, cost, duration, learning format, scheduling, mentor model, outputs and application timing.
What Last verified means
Last verified is the latest date Succeed checked the public details shown on this page. Program dates, prices and availability can still change.
How official sources are used
Succeed uses official provider information where available, then rewrites it into a student-facing summary for comparison and planning.
Why some dates are reference dates
If the current cycle is not available, Succeed may show the latest verified cycle dates so you can understand typical timing.

The Research Fellowship is a publication-focused research program from YRI Fellowship, built around an original question and a dedicated PhD mentor.
Students design a study, collect data and write their own manuscript with feedback from mentors and editors. The same work can be developed into a science fair presentation.
Its strongest fit is a student who wants sustained guidance through research and revision, rather than a short subject taster.
The Research Fellowship is YRI Fellowship's mentored program for developing an original research question into a first-author manuscript. Its research domains include artificial intelligence, biology and medicine, physics and engineering, environmental science, economics and psychology, and humanities.
Students work online with a PhD mentor through discovery, study design, data collection and writing. They write their own drafts while mentors and editors provide feedback, then receive support with peer-reviewed submission and science fair preparation.
The discovery phase helps students turn a broad interest into a question before beginning the study.
A field-matched PhD mentor and draft-by-draft editorial feedback connect methods support with academic writing.
The student writes the manuscript and prepares to defend its methods, making personal ownership central to the experience.
Support extends through submission and further review instead of stopping with a finished draft.
Students who want to develop an original question and are prepared to write, revise and explain their own research.
You want a campus lab experience or a light subject taster without sustained independent work.
The Fellowship can be worthwhile when a student needs help connecting a research idea, a workable method and a carefully revised manuscript. Its clearest value is the combination of individual supervision, writing feedback and continued submission support.
Judge the experience by the student's understanding and contribution, rather than publication alone. YRI reports an 87% publication rate and continued support, but an individual paper's acceptance and timing still depend on external review.

What the student gains
Potential output: The core deliverable is a student-written, first-author manuscript submitted to a peer-reviewed venue.. Check whether feedback, certificate, recommendation or application evidence is included.
Online support and safeguarding
No. Most Fellows begin without research experience, and the first two weeks focus on developing a research question with the mentor.
What to check before committing
Confirm current dates, session schedule, payment terms, cancellation rules, support expectations and what output or certificate is included with the provider.

Substantial, sustained independent work.
Best started
Begin planning a few weeks before applying through the year-round rolling process.
Main challenge
Keeping the question feasible while producing and revising your own manuscript.
Write down two or three research interests and what you would like to understand about each.
Map a recurring weekly work window around school and activities.
Discuss mentor matching, the contracted tuition and the refund policy with a parent or guardian before committing.
Useful if
You want practice explaining both your findings and the method behind them.
You develop an original project with a mentor, then turn the study into a manuscript and presentation materials. The process moves from choosing a question to conducting research, revising your writing and preparing for review.
In weeks 1–2, develop the research question with your PhD mentor.
In weeks 3–5, design the study and collect original data.
In weeks 6–8, write the manuscript and revise it using mentor and editor feedback.
In weeks 9–10, submit to a peer-reviewed venue and prepare the science fair entry and defense.
Continue working through further review with YRI's support if publication takes longer.
