About Academy Royale International

Founded in Oxford in 2004 and formerly known as Oxford Royale Academy, Academy Royale International provides residential academic and English-language summer programs for students ages 10–18. Its programs operate in college settings in Oxford and Cambridge and at Marlborough College, with focused and multi-subject routes spanning more than 70 courses.

Teaching style

University-style, discussion-led teaching combines seminars, tutorials, workshops, projects, specialist sessions, and practical challenges. Students encounter several academic and professional perspectives, test assumptions, apply ideas, and present and defend their conclusions.

Reputation & Succeed take

The provider reports more than 50,000 alumni from over 175 nations. It received the King's Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2024, following Queen's Awards for Enterprise in 2012, 2016, and 2019, and states that its programs have won the Best Educational Product award five times. It is accredited by the British Accreditation Council, with English-language provision accredited by the British Council.

Our take

Academy Royale International is a long-established choice for students seeking an intensive residential academic experience, a highly international cohort, and broad subject choice in Oxford, Cambridge, or Marlborough. Its scale, specialist-led teaching, accreditation, and structured pastoral support stand out, but families should understand that it is an independent provider using host-institution facilities rather than a program operated or endorsed by those institutions.

Compared with a conventional school course, the provider emphasizes university-style depth, several specialist voices, practical application, and residential life in prestigious academic settings. It also offers both focused subject study and multi-subject exploration, supported by an international alumni community of more than 50,000.

Who this provider suits

Who should choose them

A strong fit for curious, ambitious students ages 10–18 who want residential international study, practical and discussion-led learning, greater independence, and help clarifying future subject, degree, or career interests.

Who it may not suit

Families specifically seeking a summer program operated, authorized, endorsed, or taught by the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge should choose another option, because Academy Royale International is an independent provider that contracts for college facilities.
