An intensive residential programme exploring medicine, biology, chemistry and psychology through Oxbridge-style lectures, seminars and small-group tutorials.
Students complete an individual research project of approximately 3,000 words while developing research, analysis, writing and independent-thinking skills.
The academic timetable is balanced with university visits, cultural excursions and supervised evening activities.
It suits motivated aspiring medics and life-science students who want broad interdisciplinary exploration rather than a single-subject course.
The Senior Medical and Biological Sciences Programme is a residential Oxbridge Summer Scholars stream covering medicine, biology, chemistry and psychology. Its interdisciplinary curriculum examines the human body, disease, treatment, public health and psychological science through university-style teaching.
Students attend lectures, seminars, interactive sessions and small-group tutorials led by experienced university tutors and field professionals. They also complete an individual research project and take part in cultural visits and supervised social activities.
Four connected modules let students test several health and life-science pathways before specialising.
Lectures, seminars and small-group tutorials provide a varied introduction to university-style learning.
The approximately 3,000-word research project creates a substantial academic output rather than passive attendance alone.
Tutors include doctors, psychologists, scientists and researchers with experience at leading UK universities.
Residential college life, cultural visits and supervised activities broaden the experience beyond classroom study.
Motivated students exploring medicine, biology, healthcare, psychology or scientific research who enjoy discussion and independent academic work.
You want to study only one narrow subject, need English-language tuition or would prefer a low-intensity day programme.
This programme can be worthwhile for students who want to test several health and life-science disciplines in a structured residential setting. The varied teaching and individual research project offer stronger academic substance than a programme built mainly around lectures or sightseeing.
The limitation is the substantial fee and broad curriculum: students cannot choose only one module. Families should value the residential experience, supervision, meals and excursions as well as the academic content when judging the overall cost.
