UBC's physical therapy mini school connects anatomy, physiology and medical terminology to the practical work of helping people move and recover.
Students practice techniques, discuss patient cases, visit research labs and learn from professors and practicing physical therapists.
Its strongest fit is career exploration: testing an interest in rehabilitation, sports medicine or kinesiology through active learning.
The UBC Physical Therapy Mini School is a subject exploration program offered through UBC Extended Learning's Future Global Leaders on-campus program. It introduces human anatomy, physiology and medical terminology through interactive lessons focused on physical therapy applications.
Students practice techniques and work through patient cases involving sports injuries, pediatric care, stroke recovery and chronic disease management. Department and research lab tours, conversations with professionals and guidance on health sciences pathways connect the classroom experience to further study and careers.
Hands-on techniques make the connection between biological science and rehabilitation easier to test.
Cases across sports injuries, pediatric care, stroke recovery and chronic disease reveal the profession's breadth.
Teaching combines UBC academic expertise with the experience of practicing physical therapists.
Department and research lab tours give students context beyond a classroom introduction.
Students curious about physical therapy, sports medicine or kinesiology who want to connect science with practical rehabilitation cases.
You need a direct university admission pathway or prefer a light schedule with little daytime classroom commitment.
The mini school offers a useful way to test whether rehabilitation interests you before choosing a study pathway. Techniques, patient cases and research visits provide different perspectives on a profession that combines science with helping people.
Its value depends on whether you want that focused exploration enough to justify the family budget and travel planning. UBC Future Global Leaders is not a direct pathway to university admission, so the strongest return is clearer subject understanding and a more informed next step.
