    MiniMed summary

MiniMed is an introductory medicine camp from the University of Ottawa's Engineering Outreach team. It connects medical curiosity with practical science activities.

Campers explore clinical skills, conduct chemistry experiments, use microscopes, and try 3D modeling. It suits children who enjoy learning through experiments and making things.

    What is MiniMed?

MiniMed is a medicine-focused summer camp run by the University of Ottawa's Engineering Outreach team. It introduces the medical profession through practical activities, including clinical skills and chemistry experiments.

Campers also use microscopes and explore 3D modeling to investigate medical concepts. The experience combines hands-on discovery with a campus day-camp routine and outdoor play breaks when weather permits.

    Why Succeed highlights MiniMed

    • Clinical skills, chemistry experiments, microscopes, and 3D modeling offer several practical ways to explore medicine.

    • The university outreach setting makes medical curiosity part of a broader science-learning experience.

    • Free before- and after-camp care gives families a wider daily drop-off and collection window.

    • English and French delivery can accommodate different language preferences, with single-language groups arranged when possible.

    Who is MiniMed for?

    Best for

Children curious about medicine who enjoy experiments, practical activities, and learning with other campers.

    Not ideal if

Your priority is patient-facing work experience or an overnight camp; MiniMed is an introductory campus day camp.

    Is MiniMed worth it?

MiniMed is worth considering when the goal is to let a child test an interest in medicine through practical science. Its mix of experiments, microscope use, and modeling gives families more to assess than a child's interest in the job title alone.

The main limitation is its introductory scope, so expectations should center on exploration rather than professional training. Families should also weigh the daily commute and packed-lunch routine against the convenience of free extended care.
