    STEM and Sports Camp summary

Engineering Outreach and Gee-Gees Camps combine practical STEM discovery with active recreation. The day is divided equally between STEM activities and sports.

Swimming and university-led experiments add variety. The strongest fit is a child who enjoys making discoveries and moving between different activities.

What is STEM and Sports Camp?

STEM and Sports Camp is a partnership between the University of Ottawa's Engineering Outreach and Gee-Gees Camps. It combines engineering, technology and science projects with sports, giving children a practical introduction to STEM alongside active play.

Participants spend half their day on STEM activities and half on sports. University engineering camp instructors lead activities and experiments, while swimming sessions use the university's Olympic-size pool.

Why Succeed highlights STEM and Sports Camp

    • The equal STEM and sports split gives children variety without making science a small extra.

    • University engineering camp instructors provide a clear teaching connection to the STEM activities.

    • Swimming in an Olympic-size pool broadens the recreation beyond field or gym sports.

    • Included lunches and campus childcare make the daily routine easier for families to organize.

Who is STEM and Sports Camp for?

    Best for

Curious children who enjoy science projects and active play, and families seeking a varied campus day-camp experience.

    Not ideal if

Your child wants the whole day devoted to advanced STEM study or training in one sport.

Is STEM and Sports Camp worth it?

This camp is a strong option when the goal is to build curiosity while keeping a child active. University-led STEM activities, swimming and varied sports create several ways to engage with the day.

The trade-off is depth: only half the day is devoted to STEM. Families seeking intensive subject study should compare a dedicated science or engineering camp, while families prioritizing variety may find this balance more useful.
