This is a concentrated introduction to the commercial side of professional sport, combining collegiate-level classroom teaching with direct exposure to New York's sports industry.
Students analyse real cases, work collaboratively and complete a team capstone based on a practical sports business challenge.
It suits students interested in sports management, marketing, media or commercial careers who want structured teaching alongside venue visits and conversations with industry professionals.
The Sports Business Bootcamp - NYC is an immersive career experience created by Sports Biz Boot Camp and Westcoast Connection. Its collegiate-level introduction to sports management and media is modelled closely on the NYU Stern Sports Marketing and Media course.
Students combine interactive lessons and real-world case studies with collaborative projects, industry guest speakers and two possible venue visits. The experience connects subjects such as branding, marketing, media, licensing and fan behaviour with the decisions made by professional sports organisations.
The program connects classroom concepts with two behind-the-scenes visits to major sports venues.
Professor Stephen Master's NYU Stern teaching and NFL and NBA executive experience give the curriculum strong industry context.
A small-team capstone asks students to apply the week's learning to a professional-grade business challenge.
Guest speakers expose students to roles across teams, leagues, agencies, media, licensing and sponsorship.
Completion benefits include a certificate, alumni network access and reference letters on request.
High school students curious about sports management, marketing, media or commercial careers who enjoy teamwork and experiential learning.
You want sports coaching, athletic training, college credit or a mainly independent academic course.
This program can be worthwhile for a student who wants to test a serious interest in sports business before choosing a university subject or career path. The combination of case work, a capstone and direct industry contact offers more depth than a general stadium tour.
Its main limitation is breadth: six days can introduce the sports ecosystem but cannot provide extensive technical training or guarantee an internship or admissions advantage. The value therefore depends on how actively a student participates, reflects on the experience and uses the resulting project and insights afterward.
