AI Future Skills Lab is CISS's introductory exploration of artificial intelligence and its effects on everyday life, communication, and society.
Students discuss opportunities and challenges, then work in teams to develop a technology-based solution and explain it in a final presentation.
It suits curious learners who enjoy sharing ideas, creative problem-solving, and learning with peers.
AI Future Skills Lab is a CISS Canada summer course exploring how artificial intelligence influences learning, communication, creation, and society. It combines discussion, creative activities, and group challenges to help students connect technology with problems they care about.
The course forms part of CISS Toronto's residential experience at St. Hilda's Residence on the University of Toronto's Trinity College campus. Students attend morning lessons and participate in activities and excursions, while their classroom work culminates in a team solution concept or prototype and presentation.
The course connects AI's possibilities with questions about its effects on individuals and communities.
The Future Lab Challenge gives teamwork a concrete purpose: developing and explaining a proposed solution.
Morning lessons provide a substantial study commitment alongside cultural excursions and social activities.
The residential package combines campus living, meals, and 24/7 supervision and support.
Curious students who want to explore AI's social impact through discussion, teamwork, and creative design while experiencing residential summer life.
Your main goal is intensive programming practice or individual technical specialization; the course centers on exploring ideas and developing a team solution.
The course is worth considering when a family wants AI exploration combined with a supported residential experience. Its strongest educational feature is the progression from questioning technology's impact to designing and presenting a team solution.
Its value depends on how much you want the wider campus, excursion, and social experience alongside the lessons. The completion certificate and team project offer useful records of participation, but students seeking technical depth should compare it with courses focused specifically on programming or computer science.
