Oxford Scholastica introduces AI, website development and engineering through discussion-based classes and practical projects.
Students build webpages, investigate emerging technology and collaborate on a skyscraper proposal, then explain their design to an investor panel.
The combination of subject exploration, professional Q&A and cultural activities suits curious beginners who enjoy learning with others.
The Technology & AI Summer Course is Oxford Scholastica's introduction to computer science and engineering, also called the Discover Technology & AI Academy. Students explore AI and LLMs, self-driving cars, engineering mathematics, HTML and CSS, and space travel through interactive classes and practical tasks.
The experience combines college living with website creation, a collaborative design Challenge and a Q&A with a technology professional. Masterclasses develop communication and thinking skills, while excursions and social activities broaden the experience beyond class. Oxford Scholastica uses Oxford University facilities but operates independently of the university.
Website projects give students a concrete way to apply introductory HTML and CSS.
AI teaching includes limitations and dangers, encouraging thoughtful use alongside technical curiosity.
The four-hour skyscraper Challenge connects technical research, teamwork and presenting a defensible design.
A maximum class size of 15 supports the program's discussion-based teaching approach.
Residential staff, a Matron and explicit supervision rules provide practical support for younger students.
Curious beginners who want to sample AI, coding and engineering while practicing teamwork and gaining experience away from home.
You want an advanced course focused entirely on programming, or prefer a quiet schedule with little group work or organized activity.
This is a strong fit when the goal is to test several technology interests through practical work and discussion. The website project and team design presentation give students something specific to reflect on afterward, while college living adds an independence-building dimension.
The residential fee represents a substantial family commitment, and much of the experience includes cultural and social activities alongside academics. Its introductory breadth may be less useful for an experienced coder seeking sustained specialization. Judge the value by the learning experience and student fit rather than the Oxford setting alone.
