Anatomy: Inside the Human Body connects human anatomy with everyday life through collaborative activities and interactive projects.
The learning experience pairs subject exploration with university preparation, helping students connect academic interests with possible health care careers.
Its strongest appeal is the combination of anatomical vocabulary, practical problem-solving and experience of university life.
Anatomy: Inside the Human Body is a UBC Extended Learning course within Future Global Leaders. It introduces human anatomy through collaborative group activities and interactive projects that connect the subject to everyday life and contemporary challenges.
Students build anatomical vocabulary and apply their knowledge to practical problems, with teaching led by anatomist Leena Alkhammash. Morning academic classes are paired with afternoon university preparation workshops and opportunities to experience campus life.
Collaborative projects give students a practical way to use anatomical knowledge rather than only memorize terminology.
Leena Alkhammash brings nearly a decade of anatomy education experience and a UBC teaching award.
University preparation workshops broaden the experience beyond subject teaching.
The course connects naturally with interests in medicine, nursing, physical therapy and kinesiology.
Residence support includes round-the-clock staff and a published 10-to-1 student-to-staff ratio.
Students curious about human anatomy who enjoy group learning and want to explore medicine or another health care field.
You mainly want a direct university admission pathway or prefer independent study to a structured campus experience.
This course is worth considering if you want to test your interest in anatomy while experiencing university-style learning. Collaborative projects and specialist teaching give you concrete ideas to reflect on when comparing health care subjects and careers.
The value depends on whether you want the wider campus experience as well as the academic course. Families should weigh the residence option against commuting, and students should remember that participation does not provide a direct route to university admission.
