For 2026, Summer Courses, Summer Online, and Summer Intensives require students to be at least 15 by June 22; institutes and SCIP have additional requirements.

Successful completion of UCLA Summer Sessions coursework or a program earns college credit on a UCLA transcript. Transfer decisions rest with the receiving institution, so obtain guidance or advance approval from your home institution before registering.

Summer Courses, Summer Online, and Summer Intensives have open enrollment and do not require transcripts or standardized test scores. Course prerequisites, restrictions, and applicable English proficiency requirements still matter. Summer institutes and SCIP require applications.

Yes. A course listed with its building as ONLINE is completed entirely online, including the final. Classes with an on-campus room listed require campus attendance for that portion. Online courses may have scheduled live meetings or asynchronous work.

Summer Sessions does not provide residential programs or housing. For 2026, students at least 17 by June 22 may apply independently through UCLA Housing. That housing is not designed for high school students and provides no residential activities, curfew, or supervision beyond general housing staff.

Eligible UCLA students may receive summer financial aid, and visiting UC students may apply through their home UC campus. Limited scholarships support qualified California high school students. UCLA aid is unavailable to visiting adults, visiting international students, and out-of-state high school students.

The provider states that attending UCLA Summer Sessions does not give students an advantage for acceptance to a UC school.
