About USC Pre-College
USC Pre-College offers high school students academic exploration through USC Summer Programs and online courses. Its four-week campus summer option focuses on one college-level subject, connects students with USC faculty, and awards three units of elective credit upon successful completion. Residential participation and commuting for eligible local students are available. Flexible online exploration courses let high school students learn from USC faculty on their own time and earn a Certificate of Completion.
Teaching style
Summer instruction combines lectures, hands-on workshops and labs, and guest speakers. Depending on the course, students may also complete group work, field trips, and a final project. Online exploration courses offer flexible learning from USC faculty on students' own schedules.
Reputation & Succeed take
USC Pre-College is operated by the University of Southern California and offers instruction from USC faculty and experienced professionals in its academic community. Student testimonials published on the provider's site describe academic exploration, college preparation, and social connections.
Our take
USC Pre-College is a strong fit for high school students who want to explore a possible major with USC instructors. Choose the campus summer option for focused study, elective college credit, and campus life; choose online exploration for greater scheduling flexibility and a completion certificate. Summer participation does not guarantee undergraduate admission to USC.
USC Pre-College offers both a four-week campus experience with elective college credit and flexible online exploration with a completion certificate. USC describes its summer courses as more interactive and challenging than accelerated high school classes or broad introductory pre-college courses elsewhere.
Who this provider suits
Who should choose them
High school students who want to explore academic interests with USC faculty should consider this provider. The campus summer option suits students ready for four weeks of focused study in one subject and college life. Online exploration suits students who need flexible scheduling alongside high school coursework.
Who it may not suit
Students seeking guaranteed USC undergraduate admission should not choose this provider on that basis. The campus summer option is a poor fit for students unable to attend all required classes or hoping to take multiple courses simultaneously. International participants who need to commute cannot use that option.
